Best Natural Hair Care Routine for Smooth and Silky Hair
There are many hair care products available in the market these days. These hair care products will definitely give results in a very short period of time. But in the long run, it will end up ruining the natural texture of the hair.
From the Ayurvedic perspective, hair is very much related to your general health. If you do not have a healthy lifestyle, it will definitely affect hair growth. So healthy hair is not only about applying oil or applying shampoo it is also about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. According to Ayurveda, healthy hair is attributed 80% to what you eat and 20% to how you take care of your hair.
There are many ingredients that are prescribed as an essential part of the hair care routine in the ayurvedic textbook. In this blog, we are going to discuss one such ingredient.
Fenugreek Seeds (Methi or Medhika)
Fenugreek belongs to the family Fabaceae. They are a rich source of saponins and flavonoids which are considered to be an excellent supplement for hair growth. The fenugreek seeds have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which help to reduce hair fall, dandruff and also helps to acquire a smooth texture. In the olden days, it was used as a substitute for shampoo.

Fenugreek and Aloe vera

- Next morning, grind it well in a mixer grinder and add 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel (it is always best to use natural gel obtained from aloe vera succulent plant).
- Mix them well to obtain a fine paste.
Now your pack is ready for application. Apply this to your hair, especially your scalp and keep it for an hour and then wash it off with water. Do not apply shampoo while washing your hair. Try to do this twice a week.
Fenugreek and Rice water
If aloe vera gel is not available, you can try using rice water or starch. It is another effective remedy and can be a part of your hair care routine.
- Take 2-3 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds and soak them overnight.
- The next morning grind them well in a mixer grinder.
- Add this mix to rice or starch water and stir well to obtain a solution with no lumps.
Apply this to your hair and allow it to dry. After an hour wash it off with water. Try this twice a week.
Contraindications
Though this is a very effective remedy it is contraindicated for:
- People with a history of chronic asthma. Fenugreek is very cold and it is better to avoid if you have a history of an asthma attack.
- People with persistent cold or cough.
- People who are allergic to fenugreek. The best way to test this is to do a patch test. Apply the mixture on your hands and leave it for 20-30 minutes. See if you are getting any adverse reactions like itching or redness.

I have tried the first remedy. It's such a miracle mix. I had severe hair fall and my hair texture was really bad. After a month of application my hair texture has improved a lot and hair fall has also reduced considerably.
